Eurobodalla BUG Rides Calendar - January to May 2011

Hi Pedallers,

Detailed below is the Calendar for the period January to May 2011.

This new Calendar again brings to your attention the fact that there are risks inherent in bike riding.  It also recommends that you have Public Liability insurance cover when riding to protect yourself in the case of litigation.

It also explains that if you are not already a full member of the BUG, when you join a ride, and sign the sign-on sheet, you will automatically become a Temporary member of the BUG, for the duration of the ride, at no charge.  This is necessary to comply with a requirement of the insurance cover that is provided by Bicycle NSW to protect the BUG as an organisation.  This BUG membership provides no insurance cover or benefits to the riders other than the ability to join the ride.  Membership of the BUG does not confer any membership rights of Bicycle NSW.

Having got all that serious stuff out of the way, the Calendar is below,

You will notice in the Calendar that I have scheduled another visit to the Rail Trail at Bright in Victoria in early April.  This is the week before the Victorian school holidays  This venue provides easy cycling, for all standards of riders, on the old railway line that has been converted to a sealed bike path.  This time I am proposing an optional  extra day when we will catch a bus to Mt Hotham with our bikes and then ride back to Bright (54kms   1500m vertical descent).

A trip away to Tasmania in November is currently being considered.  Don Burns and I would appreciate your feed back on that idea.  The proposed location is the Western Tier area west of Launceston.  The website for the cycling opportunities in that area is http://www.greatwesterntiers.net.au    If you are interested in a BUG trip to that area pls let me know.

I hope to see you on the scenic rides in the cycling heaven that is Eurobodalla Shire.

Cheers
Guy Brantingham
