Spoke Protector

The humble spoke protector can save your spokes, derailleur and frame. We fit them when we can to basic utility bikes when there is a chance of misadjustment or minor bending being overlooked by the bikes' owner, reducing the chance of the rear derailleur getting hooked up and mangled in the spokes.

Shimano Spoke Protector 32H 32T

!

Shimano CP-FH56 spoke protector for 32 spoke wheels and maximum sprocket size 34T. Diameter: 190mm.

Shimano claims this guard works with their light alloy sprocket carrier cassettes (XT type). We've found that with some hubs (non-Shimano) there's a bit of interference between the carrier and the spoke guard. A thin shim (half millimetre?) inside the cassette can get around this. Note - a spoke protector is not meant to be used with the latest generation of XT cassettes which have studs at the back to catch an overshifted chain. Weight: 45g.

Weight: 47g.
