Menu revamp - simplified website navigation

MARCH 2009

We've received our electricity bill for the last quarter and are very pleased with the result of the sustainably designed building. We now have two and a half times the floor space, are running three computers instead of two and have an automatic sliding front door. But due to effective use of natural light, and the use of high-efficiency lighting in the shop, our electricity usage is down 28%.

Graham Wins Gold - Graham rode the track cycling events at the NSW Masters Championships, returning to Moruya with 3 gold medals.

FEBRUARY 2009

Details of our shop setup are coming together. Shelves behind counter are no longer the ugly white temporary ones, but are now lovely and match our counter. Toolboards happening. Upstairs bike hooks going in and upstairs wheel hooks in.

We stock our first Electra bike - a lovely machine, not yet on our website... Soon, soon. Others to follow.

Verofit nutritional products now stocked.

JANUARY 2009

Brendan Johnston comes second in National Championships. For details, see the "riders" link above.

The bulk of recent news in represented in the "building" link on the left of your screen.

NOVEMBER 2008

We're operating from where our storeroom has been for the past few years, and building continues apace. Still had a busy October, despite the chaos. Will try to add some building progress photos now.

16/9/2008. The building begins.

SEPTEMBER 2008 - THE BUILDING BEGINS - PICTURES SOON.

September 9th - we received email notification that the construction certificate has been issued by the Eurobodalla Shire Council. That means construction work might start within the week.

September 15th - block surveyed.

September 16th - Safety fence erected, power lines protected.

September 17th - Excavator in, side path removed, in preparation for sub-floor work.

Many '09 Giant bikes in stock, with more arriving.

We're trying to run our stock holding down a bit as we'll soon be moving, temporarily, into our (expanded) storeroom when the building gets serious.

JULY 2008

Mark and Dana are back from a holiday in NZ with daugter and friend. Both limping due to their attempts at skiing. Ah well, should stick to cycling and walking.

Details being worked out for the extension - hoping to make a start around the end of August, beginning of September. Should be finished by Summer.

JUNE 2008

WE HAVE IT - APPROVAL OF OUR DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION TO EXTEND THE SHOP! WHEW!

Giant '09 bikes arriving.

MAY 2008

Graham's back from holiday, and Rodney's about to set off. So apart from some changes and additions done early in the month, the website will probably remain pretty well unchanged for May. And, we're hoping the extension plans will get through council this month... It's looking like the extension should happen this winter/spring. So we're starting to think about some more specials and clearance lines to make the exercise a little easier.

JANUARY/FEBRUARY/MARCH/APRIL 2008

Yep, kind of busy. We've added Five Ten shoes to our line-up. The long process of getting council approval for our extensions drawn inexorably towards its conclusion... We've bought our goods hoist in anticipation...

DECEMBER '07

At last we've changed the way your orders are processed, moving to a more reliable system that does not rely on emails that were too often not getting through.

And, we've changed our freight policy to a straight $6 per order, along with lowering many prices throughout the site.

NOVEMBER '07

Brendan Johnston rides second in the National Cross Country Round 1, Adelaide November 3rd 2007.

OCTOBER '07

The plans are with council, and we're researching the details of the planned goods hoist between floors.

The battle with spam continues - the record is now 1027 emails received overnight, 4 of which we wanted. But our filter programme keeps it pretty well under control.

Mark's in the Moruya Bicycles team for the Mont 24 hour! The original excuse not to go (that the extension of the shop would be finishing up then and there'd be no time) just wasn't legitimate any more.

Business continues to be good. We're now starting to think about how to handle the temporary down-sizing (during building) before the much awaited up-sizing happens next year. It won't be comfortable...

We're now supporting Brendan Johnston in his MTB racing as he's just switched sponsorship deals from Trek to Mongoose. The switch means he'll be able to ride as a part of a team, which should be better for his results & future. And his old man Steve will be wearing one of our beautiful jerseys now too.

SEPTEMBER '07

Rodney's full-time. Apart from lunch times, you'll now find him relatively easy to find Monday to Thursday, plus Saturdays.

Hmm - we've done our own work with the shop plans and our logo, but now we're waiting on an indication of price to build, before bringing our application in to council. Waiting... It should end up looking a bit like this:

Graeme & Judy Watson have returned from their cycle-tour of France. Look at those Moruya Bicycles jerseys at the summit of the legendary Mt Venoux!

AUGUST '07

Still waiting for the graphic artist to look at our shop plans and our logo, before it goes to council...

We welcome a new after-school part-timer, Todd (The BMX Bandit). He's pretty mild-mannered really, considering what he does on a bike. We gave him some work after he did a week's work experience here.

And arrangements have been made for Rodney to work full-time here, starting next month. Full time will mean Monday to Thursday, and Saturday.

We're not waiting for the graphic artist now; might get plans to council by the end of this month...

And the biggest news of all is that since the shop expansion plans haven't run to schedule, Mark's (my) excuse for not competing in the Mont 24-hour ("The shop expansion is due for completion around then - I'll be very busy.") has become worthless, so yes, I'll be a part of Moruya Team Bicycles this year. As part of a team of six, so we should all survive.

Giant's Performance Range info to arrive (tomorrow?) - 08 model performance bikes to start arriving around the first week of September.

JULY '07

Mark's back from a week's holiday with the family, during which time he learned to ski!

New Giant bikes (recreational range) are mostly in. We're very pleased to offer the new Cypress City - just what we wanted: a quality bike with a 7-speed internal hub gear.

Our plans for  an expanded shop are just about completed, and should be submitted to council soon.

APRIL '07

It's all on! Apart from bikes and exercise bikes that is - but for the moment all that is meant to be on the website is on. That's big news.

MARCH '07

We're now stocking some Vaude panniers - the range to expand in time. Their pannier that converts to a backpack is an excellent design, their World Tramp and World Cycle panniers do tend to inspire another big trip, and thier super-lightweight under-saddle bags save considerable weight for anyone wanting just a simple bag. For more details see our New Products section or Carrying Luggage section.

We're also stocking N-ZO clothing. See our New Products Section or Clothing section.

No We're not. N-ZO have decided to sell directly through their own website rather than have a network of dealers throughout Australia. So their clothes have been taken back off our website and have been boxed up for return to the (ex) distributor.

FEBRUARY '07

Things have settled down in the shop and we're updating the website, assembling bikes and planning our hoped-for extension to the shop.

DECEMBER '06

Sorry folks, busy lately. Plenty of new stuff in the shop but not too much time to keep this site properly up to date. To be brought up to scratch early next year. Merry Christmas!

SEPTEMBER '06

Staff Changes: Michael Shiefferly joins the Moruya Bicycles team. With his experience in the bicycle industry and his calm manner, he's an asset to the team. Farewell to young Gavin, who seems to have decided the working life wasn't for him.

AUGUST '06

Delta Storage Solutions - We'll now keep these in stock.

JULY '06

Giant '07 Bikes Arriving - Base models mostly now available. High end models due for release at end of August. Info available on Giant's website, but not yet ours. There aren't enough hours in the day...

DVDs Coming - For all you couch potatoes, we're at last going to carry a dozen DVD titles in stock - Road, MTB and BMX. Huge range available by special order, from Backlash Productions.

JUNE '06

We now offer the Shimano HG93 chain degreased and soaked in Pro Link. For those who love this clean lube, we've taken the hard work out of getting the chain optimally set up to use it.

GT Bikes to be collected by the customer from the shop: GT have come into line with other major Australian bike brands by requiring that their dealers only sell bikes to customers physically in the shop. Well done.

Electric Bikes: We'll now be stocking a couple of Power Ped models: the Mantis, an excellent, simple electric / pedal bike, suitable for most riders. We'll also stock a conversion kit (for 26" wheel bikes) that can be used on any standard mountainbike (without disc brakes). See the "Power Assist" link on the left for details.

Jemma O'Brien is currently leading the 2006 NSW Roadwoman of the year pointscore.

Sportful Clothing: We're putting in some Sportful clothing, an excellent range of quality clothing, from a reliable supplier. The range will grow over time.

MAY '06

SRAM Price Review - Most prices on SRAM derailleurs, shifters and cassettes have been reduced.

Compulsory Full Face Helmets for Downhill Racing. In line with a recent decision by the UCI (International Cycling Union), MTBA has now made the use of full-face helmets compulsory in all downhill events at all levels of competition within Australia. This ruling will become mandatory from July 1st 2006. All helmets used in MTBA sanctioned events must comply with the Australian standard or international equivalent and must have a compliance sticker to that effect. Helmets will be checked for a compliance sticker and will be rejected and entry to an event denied if a compliance sticker is not present.

Mark and Dana & kids return from 2 weeks in Central Australia. 5 days walking the Larapinta Trail - beautiful! Rodney and Graham a bit snowed under in our absence.

Rodney on holiday 'till June 8th. That means Mark, Dana and Graham will be busy now....

Moruya Team Bicycles Female Pair win Dairy Farmers 3hr MTB race in Tumut. Kim Hearne and Sharlene Cohen won convincingly by a lap with 7 laps completed. A huge result over a very testing 7.4km course.

APRIL '06

Moruya Team Bicycles Finishes Second: Goodmorning Mark, Just a short note to let you know that Moruya Team Bicycles have come up with their best result yet with a second in the 12 Hours of Daylight. We were ecstatic with everyone riding strongly and sticking it to the other teams who all had 3men/1women teams. I will ring later and also follow up with a full race report.

Also Moruya Team Bicycles Junior Team of Peter & Leah Hearne competed in the 24 Minutes of Daylight and complete the race to the cheers of several hundred spectators. The future is bright for MTB.
    Andrew.
New Products on Website: Take a look at what's been added to the site during the last month. We've finally caught up on the Summer's new additions, plus some odds and ends we'd overlooked earlier.

MARCH '06

EUROBODALLA CYCLING CLUB Eurobodalla women cyclists excelled over the weekend with Jemma Obrien of Turross Head winning the Elite Womens NSW Hillclimb championships. This was conducted on Mt Panorama at Bathurst where Jemma steamed up the mountain to be the fastest female in NSW. Also at the same carnival Gail Johnston of Moruya was the 2nd woman in the 70klm Blayney to Bathust road race with Anna Johnston of Moruya first U19 woman. A great effort all round.

Jemma O'Brien finishes in the front group (35th place) in the World Cup road race at Geelong.

FEBRUARY '06
