Ordered a new crankset and bottom bracket on Monday Evening. Parts arrived today(wednesday) and are now up and running on the bike. Couldn't be happier with the consultation process or the product. Should have ordered a new cassette then as well but not so sure wife would be as understanding as Mark!!...still....cassette ordered today so all will be well. Thanks again.

Thank you very much - I had actually measured the cone length as 14mm, but guessed it must have been 15mm - the nearest Shimano one. So I'm sure you are right on with your identification (as a Formula hub)! I've just ordered the cone and a chain and 2 gear cables - total $58, paid by bank transfer.
