Eurobodalla Bicycle User Group Calendar

!
Hi Pedallers,

It is hard to believe, but I now sending you the BUG Calendar for what will be our eighth year.  How time flies when you are having fun!

Detailed below is the Calendar for the period January to June 2014. Thanks to Tony Marland, I have again been able to incorporate the Monday and Wednesday Rides in the one document. The Wednesday rides are generally shorter and easier than the Monday Rides.

This new Calendar again brings to your attention the fact that there are risks inherent in bike riding. It also recommends that you have Public Liability insurance cover when riding to protect yourself in the case of litigation.
It also explains that if you are not already a full member of the BUG, when you join a ride, and sign the sign-on sheet, you will automatically become a Temporary member of the BUG, for the duration of the ride, at no charge. This is necessary to comply with a requirement of the insurance cover that is provided by Bicycle NSW to protect the BUG as an organisation. This BUG membership provides no insurance cover or benefits to the riders other than the ability to join the ride. Membership of the BUG does not confer any membership rights of Bicycle NSW.

Having got all that serious stuff out of the way, the Calendar is below.

You will notice in the Calendar that we have a visit to the Rail Trail in Bright (Vic) in March / April. You all will have received separate emails about this.  If you have missed out on the info let me know and I will bring you up to date. This venue provides easy cycling, for all standards of riders, on the old railway line that has been converted to a bike path.

The postponed Bicycle NSW Discovery Weekend at Batemans Bay has been rescheduled for 2-5 May.  We will need to play a part as volunteers for this event.

A further trip to the Canberra Centenary Trail and a ride back to Araluen from Canberra via Captains Flat in early November is currently being planned.

I hope to see you on the scenic rides, that only seem to get better, in the cycling heaven that is Eurobodalla Shire.

Cheers
Guy Brantingham

You are advised that a negligent cyclist could be litigated by a seriously injured cyclist, or third party (ie. a woman pushing a pram on a footpath or a car driver) under common law.

Hence, cycling without Public Liability cover is not recommended.  Join Bicycle NSW http://www.bicyclensw.org.au  or a similar organisation for Public Liability insurance, or extend your household insurance cover to provide you Public Liability cover beyond your front fence, so that all riders are better protected.  Some house contents policies automatically include this type of cover.
